This nutrition class program has completely changed my outlook!I am “in my 50’s”, and post menopausal. During the last 10 years I had slowly put on over 30lbs. I felt like my metabolism had ground to a complete halt, nothing…absolutely nothing I did was really working to help me take off weight. Even though I was consistently exercising, it was a struggle to keep going with no measurable success. |
I was convinced that I was eating well, that MOST of my choices were healthy ones, and my quantities were not oversized. Still, I was gaining, not losing. My doctor would say eat fewer calories, and exercise more. I tried, and nothing. I was thoroughly discouraged, hated how I looked, and was embarrassed at the size I was now wearing. I was approaching depression over the subject. My friend Nicole at work, encouraged me to try the class and be open minded. I saw her success, but thought “I can’t do that, I’m old and it just won’t work!.” I asked Pearla if she thought it was even possible for “post menopausal me” to lose weight. She was so encouraging in her reply, and said that we COULD speed up my metabolism and said to try it for at least two weeks. I had given up all hope of returning even close to my former size, and was convinced that this time of life prevented anything from working, yet, part of me continually wanted to try. So I did. To make a long story short, there were several obstacles in my way the first couple of weeks in my family circumstances, but I was determined to stick as closely to the rules of the class as I could despite this. I was determined to not get discouraged. I ate correctly, I documented (vital!), and I drank my water. I arrived at my first weigh in, and lost 3 pounds. I was incredulous!!! It doesn’t sound like much now, but it was a huge success for me, and proved to me that it could work☺ I have not looked back since, and am pleased to report that I am almost at my weight of 10+ years ago. I feel wonderful, have far more energy, have learned how to eat properly, and best of all, feel totally confident that I can attain my goal. This is my lifestyle now…and I am definitely enjoying the “new me” that doesn’t have to feel embarrassed. My husband is proud of me. He knows all the hard work I put into trying before this class. He’s always encouraging me and tells others about my success, even though I know my size didn’t matter to him. I like being able to encourage others. I’m SURE I’m not the only one who has despaired about post menopausal weight gain….it doesn’t have to be that way!!!
